Kenya has experienced an exponential increase in the prevalence of non-communicable diseases-Cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases chronic respiratory diseases in recent years. This has been prompted by increasing risk factors and unsatisfactory information levels. The latest stepwise survey (2016) revealed a cigarette smoking prevalence of 13%, overweight and obesity prevalence of 28 % and cardiovascular disease risk of 30% among Kenyans. Prevalence rates of hypertension have risen to a national prevalence of 24% while cancer causes as high mortality as 7% of deaths per year.
